Dermaplaning is a gentle, non-invasive exfoliation treatment that uses a sterile surgical scalpel to remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the surface of the skin.

At Look Natural Aesthetic, our dermaplaning treatment is designed to be exceptionally gentle and non-aggressive, ensuring maximum comfort and safety for all skin types. It is a highly effective treatment for improving overall skin tone and texture, while also addressing concerns like dullness, dryness, and uneven pigmentation, and is particularly beneficial for those seeking a natural, glowing complexion without the need for harsh chemicals or invasive procedures.

In addition to exfoliation, we offer the option to include a very mild Derma peel, which can further enhance the benefits of the treatment, providing a deeper level of exfoliation while still being suitable for sensitive skin.

Will my hair grow back thicker?

One of the most common myths surrounding dermaplaning is that it causes hair to grow back thicker or darker. However, it’s important to understand that this simply isn’t true!

The key reason why dermplaning doesn’t cause hair to grow back thicker or darker lies in the structure of the hair itself. The hair that is removed during dermaplaning is not “cut” at the root, but rather gently scraped off from the skin’s surface. As a result, the hair regrows the same way it was before – fine, soft, and light in colour.

The myth likely originates from the sensation of the hair growing back after being removed. When the fine hair regrows, it might feel slightly coarser or prickly at first, but it’s important to note that this is only temporary. As the hair continues to grow naturally, it returns to its original texture.

Will dermaplaning damage my skin barrier?

When performed correctly, dermplaning is a safe and effective treatment that will not damage the skin’s natural barrier. It helps to remove the buildup of dead skin cells, allowing your skin to better absorb moisturizers and serums. This process, when done by a trained professional, ensures that the skin barrier remains intact, preventing irritation or damage. Proper technique and gentle handling are key to maintaining the skin’s protective layer while achieving smoother, more radiant skin.
