Fat dissolving injections - intralipotherapy
A safe, researched non-surgical form of liposuction that is used for body sculpting and contouring.
Intralipotherapy, also known as fat dissolving injections, lipolysis, or lipotherapy, is a non-surgical treatment that uses a special formulation called sodium deoxycholate to break down fat deposits under the skin.
This allows the body to naturally eliminate the fat, similar to how it processes dietary fats.
At Look Natual Aesthetics we use Aqualyx, Desoface and Desobody for fat dissolving, which we purchase from reputable pharmacies.

Fat dissolving injections are not intended for weight loss purposes.
They are specifically designed to target and eliminate stubborn, small to medium areas of unwanted fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Treatments are usually performed monthly, and whilst many clients see an improvement after 3 treatments, some small areas such as the chin or jowls may only require 1 treatment.
Some of our clients will have considered liposuction but prefer injections because although the process takes longer there is not the post surgical down time. This staggered approach also allows the skin time to recover and tighten. Cost is another factor with liposuction, costing at least four times as much.
We would always recommend that in order to achieve the best results with fat dissolving injections, it is necessary to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen.
Popular areas to be treated include;
Whilst it is possible to have treatment the same day as your consultation, we always prefer a cooling-off period. This allows us to ensure you are happy with your treatment plan and that your expectations align with the outcomes we would hope to achieve.

How to protect your results and reduce side effects
Avoid aspirin and other non-steroidal drugs such as ibuprofen for pain to reduce the risk of bruising or bleeding. Paracetamol is acceptable.
For 48 hours you should avoid exposure to UV light and heat i.e. saunas, steam rooms, sun beds, hot showers etc, as this may increase discomfort and swelling.
Abstain from particularly demanding physical exercise for 7 days.
A compression garment may be worn for 2-5 days following treatment (this will be guided by Dr Gower’s recommendation).
After DesoFace/DesoBody therapy treatments using laser, kyrolipolysis or radio-frequency- therapy must not be administered.
Do not touch the area for 12 hours.
Do not apply any kind of cosmetics onto the treated area within the first 12 hours following treatment.
The treatment contains a local anaesthetic for your comfort, and you may feel numbness or tingling immediately after the procedure.
Moderate swelling: each vial of treatment is 10 mis (about 2 teaspoons) and depending upon the area 2-4 vials will be used. This can be a consideration if you are having facial treatment so be prepared as the area will swell! This will only last about a week and will start to reduce after a few days. Mild, non-painful swelling, redness and sometimes numbness can last for up to 2 weeks.
Redness: This can be quite marked, which is normal and nothing to worry about and will subside withing a week approximately.
Bruising: again, this may or may not be extensive but is normal and will disappear within a week or so. A small number of bruising can last longer.
Tenderness / soreness over the treated areas. Can last a few weeks or days.
Itching
Hyperthermia: the area probably will feel hot to the touch
Numbness: this is another normal side effect and can last a few weeks.
When the fat cells start to reduce there may be some degree of dimpling/irregularity of the skin which in time will resolve.
If a large area has been treated, there is a risk the skin may become less tight and laxer, resulting in crepe like skin, just as would happen if you were to lose weight.
You may experience some hard nodules where there is a small pocket of the product, which will disperse after a period of time.
Some people experience a dull ache, over the treated areas which subsides between 48-72 hours.
